Latar Belakang

Dr. Yusuf al-Qardawi merupakan seorang tokoh pemikiran Islam semasa dan ulama Islam yang amat disegani serta berfikiran luas dan terbuka. Hasil karyanya meliputi pelbagai bidang. Antaranya ialah bidang ekonomi, politik, perundangan, isu-isu semasa dan sebagainya. Ini menggambarkan bahawa beliau merupakan seorang ulama yang prolifik sifatnya.

He born around 9 September 1926 M at a village called Saft Turab, Egypt western part. He springs from medium but faithful family religious. In year 1958, he profits Diploma Tinggi in Bahasa's field Literature in Ma'ahad al-Buhuts wa al-Dirasat al-Arabiyyah. In year 1960, he profits degree master (M.A.) Syu'bah‘Ulul al-Quran and al-sunnah in facukti of usuluddin, University Azhar.

He profits Ph'D degree in year 1973 through his study entitled “Zakat and its effects In Poverty Wave” the later perfected be a book entitled “Fiqh al-Zakat”, a so comprehensive book debate zakat issue with modern economy. He forced headed for Qatar in year 1961 and there he has been designated as Dekan among Islamic College. At the same time, he also setting up Historical Study Centre and Sunnah Prophet. In year 1973, after ending Ph'D degree he has set up two faculty fruit for prince and princess and founded Department of Islamic Studies in Qatar.

In year 1977, she establishes and leading Faculty of Syariah and Universiti's Islamic Studies Qatar. In year 1989, she becomes responsible principal founded Al-Sunnah's research centre and Sejarah Universiti Qatar.

Award achieved: In year 1991, he gets Bank Award Islamic's Development. In year 1993, he profits Al-Malik's Faisal award .

In year 1996, he profits UIAM Knowledge Excellence's Award (Malaysia) In year 1997, he profits Hasan's award Bolkiah's Sultan, Brunei in Fields fiqh Islamic.

Dr Yusuf al-Qardawi have been engaging actively in da'wah works Islamiyyah since still young and merged with Ikhwam's movement al-Muslimin. Hence, he was caught and jailed several times (in Faroq King's time and when revolution).
